Accessibility FAQ

Legitimate, certified Service Animals are allowed at the festival, however “emotional support” animals are not. In order to be admitted to the festival and remain at the festival, a Service Animal must:

  • Be needed due to a specific disability of the owner
  • Be trained to perform a specific task that is directly related to the owner’s disability.
  • Have its documentation and identification tags visible and legible on the harness/leash at all times
  • Remain on leash, in direct charge of the owner, at all times
  • Have its waste/droppings cleaned up and properly disposed of immediately by its caretakers
  • Not show any aggressiveness, growling, or consistent/repeated barking

Rooster Walk takes place at Pop’s Farm, a 150-acre outdoor music venue in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains. The venue is not mountainous but there are a lot of hills. We have very, very few paved surfaces. The road network throughout the venue is gravel, and the open public spaces in front of stages and around food/craft vendors are mowed grassy areas. Our tent camping areas are predominantly under mature hardwood canopy, though some of the RV/Tow-Behind Camper areas are in open grassy fields.

As such, it it pretty difficult to get from stage to stage in a wheel chair (harder than on crutches). We do have ADA Golf Cart Shuttle Services that can help transport you from area to area (with the wheelchair if the wheelchair is collapsible), though not within the stage fields. All of our golf cart shuttles must stay on the roads, so you would have to get to the road to be able to get picked up by an ADA shuttle. You can stop anyone with a radio to request an ADA shuttle along the road if you aren’t already in a designated shuttle stop. You would still need to navigate within the amphitheatres on your own because we can’t allow carts in these areas.

Yes, we will have a shower trailer on the General Admission camping ridge and a shower trailer in VIP for VIP patrons. Showers cost $5 per shower, so be sure to bring cash.

Category: Camping FAQ

We encourage carpooling! For that reason, we permit each vehicle to have two tents per Car Camping/ Premium Car Camping pass purchased. We ask that patrons are reasonable with the amount of space that they take up (no unneccessary or greedy “sprawling”), and we ask that patrons are kind and respectful toward their camping neighbors.

Category: Camping FAQ

Unfortunately, no. Virginia law doesn’t permit outside alcohol at all when there is an alcohol permit on the premises. We try to keep our prices really low to accommodate.

Category: Camping FAQ

The festival itself does not provide a sewage truck, but the portajohn company that is on site all weekend does provide pump outs. You’ll see the big pump trucks around the venue every day and patrons usually flag down the driver and line up an individual pump out for a fee. Otherwise, you would dump off site. One option that our staff frequents is Indian Heritage RV Park in Martinsville, VA for a fee.

QUIET generators are permitted in the General Admission and VIP RV areas, though they must be turned off at night from 10pm until 8am.

Category: Camping FAQ

No, an RV requires an RV pass (large or small). RVs are not permitted in the Car Camping areas.

Category: Camping FAQ

Can I bring outside food and beverages to Rooster Walk?

We will have a great variety of yummy food vendors. Feel free to prepare your own meals at your campsite as well. We’ll have free bottle filling stations for water in the festival viewing areas and in campgrounds. Bring a bottle! An excellent selection of craft beer and wine will be available near our stage areas. Valid photo identification is required to purchase adult beverages. You are allowed to bring your own food and non-alcoholic beverages into the music viewing areas, but you cannot bring your own alcohol.

Can I bring alcohol (beer, wine etc) to my campsite or into the festival?

No. Outside alcohol is not permitted at Rooster Walk due to the Virginia ABC permit that we hold for this event. Vehicles entering Pop’s Farm may be subject to random searches (trunk,
coolers, backseat, etc.). In addition, patrons walking from the parking lots and campgrounds into the “festival area” where our stages are located will be subject to a mandatory bag check. Confiscated alcohol will not be returned to the patron. Ticket refunds will not be issued due to alcohol confiscations.

Inside the “festival area,” we sell beer, wine, hard ciders, hard seltzers and liquor drinks to patrons. These alcoholic beverages may not leave the “festival area,” however. This means you can’t take an alcoholic drink from the “festival area” through a security point bag check, on your way to the campground or parking lot.

Can I bring a generator?

QUIET generators are permitted in the General Admission and VIP RV areas, though they must be turned off at night from 10pm until 8am.

Can I have a fire at my campsite?

Fires are allowed only if we do not have any local fire restrictions in place. Fires must be in an elevated fire bowl (not provided).

Can I bring a grill or smoker?

Grills are permitted. Smokers are not permitted.

What else is prohibited?

NO glass, outside alcohol, weapons, fireworks, drugs, nor drones are allowed. NO personal ATVs, golf carts etc, are allowed on the property. NO loud generators. NO pets.

Parking/ Shuttle FAQ

A motorcycle would require a parking pass just like a vehicle. In other words, to park on site, a motorcycle would need On-Site Motorcycle Parking pass ($50) and to park off-site, a motorcycle would need a Mom’s Field Off-Site Parking pass ($10 per day or $30 for the weekend).

You may only drive onto the festival site with one vehicle if you have an upgraded ON-site pass that allows you to. Vehicle must be of regular size and must fit in a regular grocery store parking space. This includes: VIP Cabin, VIP/GA Glamping, VIP/GA RV (vehicle must fit in space with travel trailer), Premium and regular On-site Car Camping, GA/VIP Car Parking Pass On-Site.

Patrons with either of these tickets are able to leave and come back into the festival grounds, as long as the parking pass is not lost.

If you do not have an on-site parking/ camping pass for your vehicle, you must drive directly to the off-site parking lot known as Mom’s Field. The closest mailing address to this lot is: 1113 Centerville Road, Axton VA and you’ll see signs when you are there. A free shuttle bus runs on a constant loop from the off-site parking/camping lot to the festival site.

More info on the off-site parking at Mom’s Field can be found here.

For available Mom’s Field Off-site camping/ parking tickets, visit this page.

VIP FAQ

Category: VIP FAQ

Rooster Walk’s VIP Tent Camping area is all primitive camping, meaning no tent pads, water or electric. We designate this area as VIP Tent Camping because it’s our best tent camping spot on the 150 acre property. It’s beautiful, shaded camping under mature hardwood canopy. We don’t designate or number camp sites. Instead, the area is open to all first come, first serve. Folks can camp with friends in groups of tents or by themselves. We ask that patrons are reasonable with the amount of space that they take up (no unneccessary or greedy “sprawling”), and we ask that patrons are kind and respectful toward their camping neighbors.

Portojohns and VIP showers are very close to the VIP Tent Camping area.

No vehicles are allowed in the VIP Tent Camping area. (All parking must be purchased separately.)

General Admission ticket holders are not permitted to enter VIP areas.
